Dear sellers on Amazon Germany, please note that Amazon will conduct a backend review in June 2022 to determine if sellers have German packaging laws. Sellers who have not yet registered and uploaded their German packaging law registration numbers, hurry up!

To meet the packaging classification requirements, you need to take two steps:

If you sell packaged goods in Germany, you will be considered a "producer" and will need to register the so-called "LUCID Packaging Registration", pay the "System Participation Fee" to the dual system, and report the packaging you "produce" in kilograms to the LUCID Packaging Registration and Dual System.

In Germany, you are responsible for both primary and secondary packaging. If your secondary packaging is provided by a delivery service provider, your provider will be responsible for secondary packaging before June 30, 2022. Starting from July 1, 2022, you will be responsible for both primary and secondary packaging. This applies to Amazon Logistics and any other delivery service provider.

The compliance process for packaging classification in Germany requires the following two steps:

Step 1

Register and archive your data with ZSVR through LUCID packaging registration. You will receive the registration number via email, and then please provide it to your dual system counterpart to sign the system participation agreement. The number starts with "DE" and is followed by 13 digits (such as DE1234567891011). After completing the entire process, you should also provide this number to Amazon.

Step 2

Amazon will use the seller's company name, address, and VAT/taxpayer reference number (three certificates in one) to verify your registration. The seller must ensure that the data on the LUCID packaging registration is consistent with the data you provided to Amazon. Otherwise, the audit will not be passed, and Amazon will stop selling all non compliant products sold in Germany and charge you environmental protection fees.
