Overview
Product Details
Consider using this grade of hot work tool steel for applications where drastic cooling is required during the operation, and where high red hardness and resistance to heat checking are important. This grade has found wide acceptance for die casting dies for zinc, white metal, aluminum and magnesium. It is also widely used for extrusion dies, trimmer dies, gripper dies, hot shear blades, casings, and other similar hot work applications. Characteristics: annealed max. 229 HB Weldability: bad Machinability: 10 (1 = very bad - 10 = good) Chemical composition: 1.2344 C Si Mn P S Cr Mo V min. 0.35 0.80 0.25 4.80 1.20 0.85 max. 0.42 1.20 0.50 0.03 0.02 5.50 1.50 1.15 Production: Round and Flat Size according to customer's requirement Benefit of sawn cuts: The processing with the saw is a mechanical processing of the material, which results in a significantly lower unintended deformation and increased hardness for the existing structure, such as the thermal cutting. Thus, the machined workpiece has a homogeneous structure even at the edge, which does not change in the continuation of the material. This circumstance allows immediate finishing of the workpiece with milling or drilling . So it is not necessary to anneal the material or make a similar operation beforehand.
