Causes of Cold End Corrosion

The sulfur in the fuel will generate sulfur dioxide after combustion, and a small amount of sulfur dioxide will further oxidize to form Sulfur trioxide. Because Sulfur trioxide exists in the flue gas, the dew point temperature of the flue gas will rise, that is, Sulfur trioxide will combine with water vapor in the flue gas to generate sulfuric acid vapor. When flue gas containing sulfuric acid vapor flows through a low-temperature heating surface, and the metal wall temperature of the heating surface is lower than the dew point of sulfuric acid vapor, sulfuric acid dew forms on the surface of the heating surface metal and corrodes it.

Low temperature corrosion hazards

Strong low-temperature corrosion can cause the rupture of metal on the hot surface of the air preheater, causing air leakage into the flue gas, affecting the heat transfer efficiency of the air preheater, worsening the combustion of the supply air, reducing the efficiency of the boiler, and affecting the economic operation of the power plant.
